Söderhamn Eriksson

Stability, knowledge and accessibility

Stability, knowledge and accessibility. These are the three words that I want to use to describe Söderhamn Eriksson. Included in these concepts are many of the most distinguished assets that constitute the foundation of our business and in which you can have confidence as a customer. Our stability arises out of a long history and long-term ownership. It means that we are capable of taking uncomfortable decisions in the short term that produce results in the longer term. At the same time it represents security. We are a strong and healthy knowledge-based company with sound finances. During the years we have accumulated a great deal of knowledge and experience. We have supplied over 60 systems during the last ten years alone, and this has provided us a with a broad knowledge base. At the same time we have always maintained our focus on the cutting process that constitutes the heart of a sawmill. Our primary expertise lies in sawing and debarking. Our objective is to create a more economic sawing process for you as a customer, by reducing the production costs of every unit that is produced. In order to achieve that objective, we are ensuring that we continue to acquire and develop up-to-date knowledge. Every year we dispose of about 15 million SEK in pure product development. The fact that we find it easy to take onboard and develop new technologies, as well as adapt to new conditions, is proven by our many successful years in the business. Our knowledge exists primarily in the form of the experience that is in the possession of our skilful colleagues. We have a low staff turnover and we think that it is important to keep and foster the knowledge that exists in the organisation. It is precisely the supply of machine systems, including fast installation times, thorough service, spare parts when you need them, and also training adapted to the customer, that is becoming more and more important for sawmills the world over. It is important to us that we are accessible and that we take complete responsibility for everything that we supply. We are also operating in an international market, which in itself provides our customers, many of which are global, with increased accessibility to our services. At present we are operating mainly in the coniferous zone and we are looking into further expansion in this area. There are several reasons for this. One of the reasons is that we want to develop further and strengthen our position in order to be able to utilise the existing expertise in terms of our machines and our systems. Another of the reasons is that in that way we can transfer expertise between countries.
